Cubby
The clipboard history Windows 11 should have shipped
For Windows 11 power users, developers, and anyone who lives in copy and paste
Windows 11 clipboard history forgets almost everything and can't really search. Cubby is the replacement: it uses the same Win+V muscle memory but keeps months of history you can search instantly, preserves what you copied losslessly across text, images, links, files, HTML and RTF, and stores it encrypted on your machine. It imports your existing Ditto history in one step, reads text out of copied screenshots with offline OCR, and stays reliable even inside remote-desktop and remote-support sessions. No account, no cloud sync, no telemetry, no AI upsell — just the clipboard Windows should have shipped.
// features
A cursor-anchored Windows 11 flyout with Fluent design, Mica, Segoe UI, light/dark mode, and full keyboard navigation. Optionally replaces Win+V without PowerToys or a remapper.
Search across your whole history and pull back anything you copied weeks ago in a keystroke, instead of Windows 11 clipboard history quietly dropping it.
Bring your existing Ditto clipboard history across in one step, so switching costs you nothing.
Text, images, screenshots, links, files, HTML, and RTF are captured and replayed exactly — never silently trimmed or flattened.
Copied a screenshot? Cubby reads the text out of it with native Windows OCR, fully offline, so you can search and paste it as text.
A large-clipboard sync mode keeps copy and paste working in RDP and remote-support tools (turn off the remote app's clipboard-hotkey forwarding for the smoothest handoff).
History is stored encrypted with Windows-protected keys. Per-app exclusions keep password managers and other sensitive apps out of history, with configurable retention and clear-history controls — nothing leaves your machine.
// how it works
- 01 Install Cubby
Download for Windows 11 from cubbyclipboard.com. No account, no sign-in — it runs entirely on your machine.
- 02 Press Win+V
Cubby opens right where your cursor is. Search, arrow to a clip, and hit Enter to paste it back into the app you were using — pin the ones you reuse.
- 03 Bring your history
Import from Ditto in one step and set your retention window. From here, everything you copy is searchable, private, and losslessly kept.
// under the hood
Native clipboard integration with contention retries and burst handling, plus source-application context — not a heuristic polling shim.
History and image blobs are encrypted at rest with Windows-protected keys and authenticated encryption. Search decrypts in memory and substring-matches across your whole history, so long-term lookups stay fast without leaving plaintext on disk.
Selecting a clip restores the real Windows clipboard formats and pastes into the previously focused app, with a plain-text paste option — no fragile Shift+Insert simulation.
A dedicated large-text sync path restores the synchronized clipboard for RDP and remote-control tools so big logs are not retyped character by character.
